(EN) The Boeing 747 Large Cargo Freighter (LCF), known as the Dreamlifter, is a modified Boeing 747-400 used exclusively for transporting aircraft parts to Boeing from suppliers around the world. Boeing Commercial Airplanes announced on Octobe 13, 2003 that due to the length of time required by marine shipping, air transport will be the primary method of transporting parts for the 787 (then known as the 7E7). Three used passenger 747-400 aircraft were to be converted into an outsize configuration in order to ferry sub-assemblies from Japan and Italy to Charleston, South Carolina and then to Everett, Washington for final assembly

(FR) Le Boeing 747 Large Cargo Freighter (LCF), également surnommé Dreamlifter, est un Boeing 747-400 modifié et utilisé pour le transport de pièces d'avions entre les différents fournisseurs de Boeing. Le 13 octobre 2003, Boeing annonce qu'au vu de la durée des livraisons par bateau, le transport aérien sera la méthode principale de transport des éléments du 787 (alors désigné par le code 7E7). Trois 747-400 pour passagers doivent être agrandis pour pouvoir embarquer des assemblages de pièces à destination d'Everett depuis les fournisseurs japonais et italiens.
